My Interview with Werewolf Romance Author Tracey Kitts

1
Q: Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, what is your background?

A: I’m from the Middle-of-Nowhere, Florida. I grew up in a small town and even though I’d like to travel more, I plan to always come back there. I love peace and quiet:)
2
Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer, and What was it that inspired you to start writing?

A: I have wanted to be a writer since I was a kid. What inspired me was having The Hobbit read to me as a child. I had no idea what was involved in telling a story like that, I just knew that was what I wanted to do some day, to tell a story that amazing.
3
Q: When did you write your first book?

A: I have always written short stories for my own entertainment, here and there over the years. I wrote my first novel in late 2006. It was Red, the first book in my Lilith Mercury Series.
4
Q: How many books have you written? Do you have a favorite?

A: Do you have a favorite? I’m working on my 16th right now. It’s hard to pick a favorite, because it depends on my mood. LOL But if I had to choose, I’d say Bitten.
5
Q: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: A writer. Seriously. While other kids wanted to be an astronaut, I wanted to tell stories.
6
Q: How long does it typically take you to write a book?

A: Anywhere from two weeks to three months. It depends on how many times I get interrupted and how much stress is in my life at the time. LOL
7
Q: Where do the ideas for your books come from?

A: Anything. Everything. Sometimes it can be a smile from a complete stranger that inspires a sexy werewolf. Or rain on a hot summer night that conjures up the most amazing scene. It all depends on my mood.
8
Q: Where is your favortie place to write, where do you feel most creative?

A: In my “office” with nothing around but me and my bobble-head Joker. He agrees with everything I say. (The perfect man. Hahaha) When I type his head bobs up and down, it’s hilarious. The most important thing to my creativity is quiet. I will get really upset if people won’t shut up while I’m working. That’s why I write in the middle of the night or when no one else is around.
9
Q: Do you have any role models? Have there been any other writers that have inspired you?

A: II don’t really have any role models and only find inspiration in the classics, Poe, Shakespeare, etc. I enjoy lots of modern writers, but they don’t really inspire me.
10
Q: When you're not writing, what do you like to do for fun?

A: I love to watch horror movies. Nothing like a good scary movie.
11
Q: Do you have anything that you'd like to say to your readers?

A: Thank you so much for reading my books. It means a lot to me to know that you enjoy what I do.
12
Q: What kind of advice would you give to new writers?

A: IDon’t ever be rude to other writers, no matter what genre they write. I say this because so many people have been rude to me because I write romance. Any writing is hard work and (especially if they are published) they deserve some credit for that. Publishing, like any industry, is a small world and you never know when someone might be in a position to help you. Because no matter how nice you might be then, they’ll always remember you as “the rude one.” Oh, and don’t be rude to editors either, the same thing applies. You’d be surprised how many people don’t have manners. You want to be remembered for yours, not for your lack thereof.
