My Interview with Paranormal Romance Author Victoria M. Noxon

1
Q: Please tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from, what is your background?

A: I live in Upstate NY with my husband of over twenty-five years. I have four children…soon to be a grandmother. I also work full-time at a local area hospital as a Staff Development Educator.
2
Q: When did you first realize that you wanted to be a writer, and What was it that inspired you to start writing?

A: I began reading when I was teenager. The Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mysteries were my favorite. As I grew older, I graduated to reading all genres, especially romance. I dappled in poetry and short stories before graduating to writing novels. With my fascination to the paranormal, I moved into that direction with my writing.
3
Q: When did you write your first book?

A: My first book, Prism of Dreams, came out in 2003. It’s a historical romance, set in Scotland, with a light paranormal twist.
4
Q: How many books have you written? Do you have a favorite?

A: To date, I have 3 books out. I love all of my worlds and characters, but I have to say the last one Echoes of Darkness has to be my favorite. This book is more of a darker paranormal with vampires, werewolves, shifters, and an evil Vampryss.
5
Q: When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A: I hoped to be an Accountant. I have my Bachelors Degree in accounting however over the years the lure of telling my stories became a much stronger draw than playing with numbers.
6
Q: How long does it typically take you to write a book?

A: That’s a tough one, but on average about eight months. It’s gotten better since three of my children are grown. I do have a ten year old who requires quite a bit of my attention, but, she’s an author too, so we sit and write together after homework is done.
7
Q: Where do the ideas for your books come from?

A: Many of my ideas pop into my head as one-liners. I write them down, elaborate on the storyline…at least where I want to take it. But alas, it’s not up to me. My characters will take charge and guide me through the story. They tell me where to go.
8
Q: Where is your favortie place to write, where do you feel most creative?

A: It may sound strange, but I get most of writing done in the living room with the TV blaring. I love watching reruns of my favorite movies.
9
Q: Do you have any role models? Have there been any other writers that have inspired you?

A: My biggest role models would have to be Stephen King, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsay, Hannah Howell. Each one has a different style of writing unique to them and to the story they’re telling.
10
Q: When you're not writing, what do you like to do for fun?

A: I work full-time, so when I’m not writing, I read or spend time with my family.
11
Q: Do you have anything that you'd like to say to your readers?

A: I would like to thank all of you for supporting me in my writing. Thank you for playing with me in my worlds. And please, come back for more fun.
12
Q: What kind of advice would you give to new writers?

A: Don’t give up! No matter how many rejections you may see, your story is your baby, and someone else out there will love it just as much as you do.
